What we collect
- Your email address, if you join our email list.
- Your first name, only if you choose to give it.
- A record that you agreed to hear from us, including the date and time and the wording you agreed to.
- If you email us, your email address and whatever you write to us.
We don't use analytics, advertising trackers or non-essential cookies on this website.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
We use your email address and name to send you emails about TRU Society news, free community events and TRU Acts. We do this because you gave us your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a), and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations). If you email us with a question, we use your details to reply, which is in our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
Who we share it with
We use [email list / form provider, e.g. Formspree, Buttondown or MailerLite – confirm and name here, with where it stores data] to collect and store sign-ups and send emails. Our website host, [host, e.g. Cloudflare Pages, Netlify or Vercel – confirm], may log technical information such as IP addresses when you visit. We do not sell your information.
How long we keep it
We keep your sign-up details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. [Confirm retention period, e.g. whether we keep a suppression record after unsubscribing so we don't email you again.]
Your rights
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time (for example by using the unsubscribe link in any email, or emailing us). Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything we did before.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
